wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the
morning.
Leviticus 19:34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you
as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers
in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
35 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or
in measure.
36 Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have:
I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt.
37 Therefore shall ye observe all my statutes, and all my judgments, and
do them: I am the LORD.
Deuteronomy 15:12 And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman,
be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou
shalt let him go free from thee.
13 And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him
go away empty:
14 Thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor,
and out of thy winepress: of that wherewith the LORD thy God hath blessed
thee thou shalt give unto him.
15 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt,
and the LORD thy God redeemed thee: therefore I command thee this thing
to day.
Deuteronomy 24:5 When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to
war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free
at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.
6 No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: for he
taketh a man's life to pledge.
Deuteronomy 24:14 Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and
needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy
land within thy gates:
15 At his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down
upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against
thee unto the LORD, and it be sin unto thee.
Deuteronomy 24:19 When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and
hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it
shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the
LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands.
Deuteronomy 25:13 Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great
and a small.
14 Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures, a great and a small.
15 But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure
shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD
thy God giveth thee.
16 For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination
unto the LORD thy God.
1 Kings 9:10 And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon
had built the two houses, the house of the LORD, and the king's house,
11 (Now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and
fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire,) that then king Solomon
gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.
12 And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given
him; and they pleased him not.
13 And he said, What cities are these which thou hast given me, my brother?
And he called them the land of Cabul unto this day.
14 And Hiram sent to the king sixscore talents of gold.
Job 20:18 That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow
it down: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall
not rejoice therein.

violently taken away an house which he builded not;

of many wicked.

sheweth mercy, and giveth.

prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
Proverbs 6:1 My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken
thy hand with a stranger,
2 Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words
of thy mouth.
3 Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the
hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.
4 Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
5 Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from
the hand of the fowler.
6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy
sleep?
10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to
sleep:
11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an
armed man.

is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

surety in the presence of his friend.

hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.
Proverbs 18:9 He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that
is a great waster.
Proverbs 18:16 A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before
great men.
Proverbs 20:4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore
shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

man who can find?
Proverbs 20:10 Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike
abomination to the LORD.
Proverbs 20:13 Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes,
and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

way, then he boasteth.
Proverbs 20:23 Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false
balance is not good.

wine and oil shall not be rich.
Proverbs 22:3 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but
the simple pass on, and are punished.
4 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.
Proverbs 22:16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he
that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.
Proverbs 22:22 Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the

spoiled them.

are sureties for debts.
27 If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under
thee?

he shall not stand before mean men.
Proverbs 23:4 Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.
Proverbs 23:10 Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields
of the fatherless:
Proverbs 26:24 He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit
within him;
25 When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations
in his heart.
26 Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before
the whole congregation.
27 Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone,
it will return upon him.
28 A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering
mouth worketh ruin.
Proverbs 27:23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look
well to thy herds.
24 For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation?
25 The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of
the mountains are gathered.
26 The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field.
27 And thou shalt have goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of
thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens.
Proverbs 28:8 He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance,
he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.
Proverbs 28:19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but
he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.
20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste
to be rich shall not be innocent.
21 To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that
man will transgress.
22 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that
poverty shall come upon him.
Ecclesiastes 3:12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to
rejoice, and to do good in his life.
13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all
his labour, it is the gift of God.
Ecclesiastes 7:14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of
adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to
the end that man should find nothing after him.
Ecclesiastes 9:11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not
to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise,
nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill;
but time and chance happeneth to them all.

how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou
knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among
us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
15 He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth
the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes,
that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from
seeing evil;
16 He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of
rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

bath.
Amos 8:1 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer
fruit.
2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit.
Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I
will not again pass by them any more.
3 And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord
GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them
forth with silence.
4 Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the
land to fail,
5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the
sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel
great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?
6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes;
yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?
7 The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget
any of their works.
8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth
therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out
and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.
9 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will
cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear
day:
Habakkuk 2:6 Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting
proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not
his! how long? and to him that ladeth himself with thick clay!
Habakkuk 2:9 Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house,
that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power
of evil!
Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth
and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor
rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy
whole body shall be full of light.
23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If
therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love
the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot
serve God and mammon.
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall
eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.
Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap,
nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not
much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field,
how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed
like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is,
and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you,
O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall
we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly
Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all
these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought
for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Matthew 18:23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain
king, which would take account of his servants.
24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed
him ten thousand talents.
25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold,
and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have
patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him,
and forgave him the debt.
28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which
owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the
throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
29 And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying,
Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay
the debt.
31 So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and
came and told unto their lord all that was done.
32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked
servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even
as I had pity on thee?
34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he
should pay all that was due unto him.
35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your
hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
Luke 3:9 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every
tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast
into the fire.
10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?
11 He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart
to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.
12 Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what
shall we do?
13 And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.
14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we
do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely;
and be content with your wages.
15 And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts
of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;
16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water;
but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy
to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
17 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and
will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire
unquenchable.
18 And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.
19 But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother
Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,
20 Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.
21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also
being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him,
and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee
I am well pleased.
23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was
supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,
24 Which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi, which was the
son of Melchi, which was the son of Janna, which was the son of Joseph,
25 Which was the son of Mattathias, which was the son of Amos, which was
the son of Naum, which was the son of Esli, which was the son of Nagge,
26 Which was the son of Maath, which was the son of Mattathias, which was
the son of Semei, which was the son of Joseph, which was the son of Juda,
27 Which was the son of Joanna, which was the son of Rhesa, which was the
son of Zorobabel, which was the son of Salathiel, which was the son of Neri,
28 Which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Addi, which was the
son of Cosam, which was the son of Elmodam, which was the son of Er,
29 Which was the son of Jose, which was the son of Eliezer, which was the
son of Jorim, which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi,
30 Which was the son of Simeon, which was the son of Juda, which was the
son of Joseph, which was the son of Jonan, which was the son of Eliakim,
31 Which was the son of Melea, which was the son of Menan, which was the
son of Mattatha, which was the son of Nathan, which was the son of David,
32 Which was the son of Jesse, which was the son of Obed, which was the
son of Booz, which was the son of Salmon, which was the son of Naasson,
33 Which was the son of Aminadab, which was the son of Aram, which was the
son of Esrom, which was the son of Phares, which was the son of Juda,
34 Which was the son of Jacob, which was the son of Isaac, which was the
son of Abraham, which was the son of Thara, which was the son of Nachor,
35 Which was the son of Saruch, which was the son of Ragau, which was the
son of Phalec, which was the son of Heber, which was the son of Sala,
36 Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son of Arphaxad, which was
the son of Sem, which was the son of Noe, which was the son of Lamech,
37 Which was the son of Mathusala, which was the son of Enoch, which was
the son of Jared, which was the son of Maleleel, which was the son of Cainan,
38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son
of Adam, which was the son of God.
Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in
honour preferring one another;
11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
Romans 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in
the sight of all men.
1 Corinthians 10:24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.
2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers:
for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion
hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth
with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the
temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk
in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord,
and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters,
saith the Lord Almighty.
Ephesians 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour,
working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give
to him that needeth.
Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up
in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh,
with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing
the will of God from the heart;
7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive
of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
9 And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening:
knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of
persons with him.
Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and
not unto men;
24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance:
for ye serve the Lord Christ.
Colossians 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
1 Thessalonians 4:11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business,
and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may
have lack of nothing.
James 4:13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such
a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life?
It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth
away.
15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this,
or that.
16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it
is sin.
James 5:1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall
come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness
against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure
together for the last days.
4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which
is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped
are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished
your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the
husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience
for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
1 Peter 2:18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only
to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief,
suffering wrongfully.
20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall
take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it
patiently, this is acceptable with God.
21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us,
leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened
not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we,
being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye
were healed.
25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd
and Bishop of your souls.
