Ecclesiastes 8:1 Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation
of a thing? a man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of
his face shall be changed.
2 I counsel thee to keep the king's commandment, and that in regard of the
oath of God.
3 Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; for he
doeth whatsoever pleaseth him.
4 Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him,
What doest thou?
5 Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's
heart discerneth both time and judgment.
6 Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery
of man is great upon him.
7 For he knoweth not that which shall be: for who can tell him when it shall
be?
Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets:
I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one
tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and
shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven:
but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in
the kingdom of heaven.
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness
of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom
of heaven.
Luke 12:57 Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?
58 When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in
the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he
hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the
officer cast thee into prison.
59 I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very
last mite.
Luke 20:22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?
23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?
24 Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered
and said, Caesar's.
25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which
be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.
Acts 4:15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council,
they conferred among themselves,
16 Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle
hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem;
and we cannot deny it.
17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten
them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach
in the name of Jesus.
19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in
the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing
how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified
God for that which was done.
22 For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing
was shewed.
Acts 4:24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with
one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth,
and the sea, and all that in them is:
25 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen
rage, and the people imagine vain things?
26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together
against the Lord, and against his Christ.
27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed,
both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel,
were gathered together,
28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be
done.
29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants,
that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may
be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled
together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the
word of God with boldness.
32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one
soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed
was his own; but they had all things common.
Acts 5:26 Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without
violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.
27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and
the high priest asked them,
28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this
name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend
to bring this man's blood upon us.
29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey
God rather than men.
Acts 5:40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles,
and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of
Jesus, and let them go.
41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they
were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach
and preach Jesus Christ.
Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there
is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God:
and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou
then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have
praise of the same:
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which
is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the
minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience
sake.
6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers,
attending continually upon this very thing.
7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom
to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another
hath fulfilled the law.
1 Peter 2:13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's
sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment
of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence
the ignorance of foolish men:
16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but
as the servants of God.
17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
