Numbers 24:18 And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession
for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.
19 Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy
him that remaineth of the city.
Deuteronomy 23:7 Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother:
thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land.
8 The children that are begotten of them shall enter into the congregation
of the LORD in their third generation.
Isaiah 11:14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward
the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their
hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.
Isaiah 15:1 The burden of Moab. Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid
waste, and brought to silence; because in the night Kir of Moab is laid
waste, and brought to silence;
2 He is gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, the high places, to weep: Moab
shall howl over Nebo, and over Medeba: on all their heads shall be baldness,
and every beard cut off.
3 In their streets they shall gird themselves with sackcloth: on the tops
of their houses, and in their streets, every one shall howl, weeping abundantly.
4 And Heshbon shall cry, and Elealeh: their voice shall be heard even unto
Jahaz: therefore the armed soldiers of Moab shall cry out; his life shall
be grievous unto him.
5 My heart shall cry out for Moab; his fugitives shall flee unto Zoar, an
heifer of three years old: for by the mounting up of Luhith with weeping
shall they go it up; for in the way of Horonaim they shall raise up a cry
of destruction.
6 For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate: for the hay is withered away,
the grass faileth, there is no green thing.
7 Therefore the abundance they have gotten, and that which they have laid
up, shall they carry away to the brook of the willows.
8 For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab; the howling thereof
unto Eglaim, and the howling thereof unto Beerelim.
9 For the waters of Dimon shall be full of blood: for I will bring more
upon Dimon, lions upon him that escapeth of Moab, and upon the remnant of
the land.
Isaiah 16:1 Send ye the lamb to the ruler of the land from Sela to the wilderness,
unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.
2 For it shall be, that, as a wandering bird cast out of the nest, so the
daughters of Moab shall be at the fords of Arnon.
3 Take counsel, execute judgment; make thy shadow as the night in the midst
of the noonday; hide the outcasts; bewray not him that wandereth.
4 Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a covert to them from
the face of the spoiler: for the extortioner is at an end, the spoiler ceaseth,
the oppressors are consumed out of the land.
5 And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it
in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and
hasting righteousness.
6 We have heard of the pride of Moab; he is very proud: even of his haughtiness,
and his pride, and his wrath: but his lies shall not be so.
7 Therefore shall Moab howl for Moab, every one shall howl: for the foundations
of Kirhareseth shall ye mourn; surely they are stricken.
8 For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah: the lords
of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come
even unto Jazer, they wandered through the wilderness: her branches are
stretched out, they are gone over the sea.
9 Therefore I will bewail with the weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah:
I will water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh: for the shouting
for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen.
10 And gladness is taken away, and joy out of the plentiful field; and in
the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting:
the treaders shall tread out no wine in their presses; I have made their
vintage shouting to cease.
11 Wherefore my bowels shall sound like an harp for Moab, and mine inward
parts for Kirharesh.
12 And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moab is weary on the
high place, that he shall come to his sanctuary to pray; but he shall not
prevail.
13 This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning Moab since that
time.
14 But now the LORD hath spoken, saying, Within three years, as the years
of an hireling, and the glory of Moab shall be contemned, with all that
great multitude; and the remnant shall be very small and feeble.
Isaiah 25:10 For in this mountain shall the hand of the LORD rest, and Moab
shall be trodden down under him, even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill.
Isaiah 34:1 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let
the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that
come forth of it.
2 For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon
all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them
to the slaughter.
3 Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out
of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be
rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the
leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.
5 For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon
Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.
6 The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness,
and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams:
for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land
of Idumea.
7 And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the
bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat
with fatness.
8 For it is the day of the LORD'S vengeance, and the year of recompences
for the controversy of Zion.
9 And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof
into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.
10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up
for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass
through it for ever and ever.
11 But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and
the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of
confusion, and the stones of emptiness.
12 They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be
there, and all her princes shall be nothing.
13 And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the
fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and a court
for owls.
14 The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of
the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also
shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.
15 There shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather
under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be gathered, every one with
her mate.
16 Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall
fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his
spirit it hath gathered them.
17 And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto
them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation
shall they dwell therein.
Jeremiah 9:25 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish
all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised;
26 Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and
all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all
these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised
in the heart.
Jeremiah 49:7 Concerning Edom, thus saith the LORD of hosts; Is wisdom no
more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?
8 Flee ye, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring
the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I will visit him.
9 If grapegatherers come to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes?
if thieves by night, they will destroy till they have enough.
10 But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he
shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is spoiled, and his brethren,
and his neighbours, and he is not.
11 Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy
widows trust in me.
12 For thus saith the LORD; Behold, they whose judgment was not to drink
of the cup have assuredly drunken; and art thou he that shall altogether
go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink
of it.
13 For I have sworn by myself, saith the LORD, that Bozrah shall become
a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof
shall be perpetual wastes.
14 I have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent unto the
heathen, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to
the battle.
15 For, lo, I will make thee small among the heathen, and despised among
men.
16 Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart, O
thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of
the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will
bring thee down from thence, saith the LORD.
17 Also Edom shall be a desolation: every one that goeth by it shall be
astonished, and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof.
18 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof,
saith the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell
in it.
19 Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against
the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from
her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like
me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will
stand before me?
20 Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Edom;
and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman:
Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make
their habitations desolate with them.
21 The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise thereof
was heard in the Red sea.
22 Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over
Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as
the heart of a woman in her pangs.
23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard
evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot
be quiet.
24 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath
seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.
25 How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!
26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of
war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts.
27 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume
the palaces of Benhadad.
28 Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar
king of Babylon shall smite, thus saith the LORD; Arise ye, go up to Kedar,
and spoil the men of the east.
29 Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: they shall take to
themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and
they shall cry unto them, Fear is on every side.
30 Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the
LORD; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you,
and hath conceived a purpose against you.
31 Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care,
saith the LORD, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone.
32 And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle
a spoil: and I will scatter into all winds them that are in the utmost corners;
and I will bring their calamity from all sides thereof, saith the LORD.
33 And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and a desolation for ever:
there shall no man abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it.
34 The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in
the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,
35 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the
chief of their might.
36 And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven,
and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation
whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.
37 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before
them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce
anger, saith the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have
consumed them:
38 And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king
and the princes, saith the LORD.
39 But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again
the captivity of Elam, saith the LORD.
Ezekiel 25:12 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because that Edom hath dealt against
the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and hath greatly offended, and revenged
himself upon them;
13 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also stretch out mine hand
upon Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it desolate
from Teman; and they of Dedan shall fall by the sword.
14 And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel:
and they shall do in Edom according to mine anger and according to my fury;
and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord GOD.
Ezekiel 35:1 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,
3 And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O mount Seir, I am against
thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee
most desolate.
4 I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt
know that I am the LORD.
5 Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the
children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity,
in the time that their iniquity had an end:
6 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood,
and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood
shall pursue thee.
7 Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him that
passeth out and him that returneth.
8 And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and in
thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain with
the sword.
9 I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not return:
and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
10 Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall
be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was there:
11 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according to
thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy
hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have
judged thee.
12 And thou shalt know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all thy
blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying,
They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.
13 Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied
your words against me: I have heard them.
14 Thus saith the Lord GOD; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make
thee desolate.
15 As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because
it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount
Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the
LORD.
Joel 3:19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness,
for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent
blood in their land.
Amos 1:11 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for
four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue
his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did
tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of
Bozrah.
13 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon,
and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they
have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their
border:
14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the
palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the
day of the whirlwind:
15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together,
saith the LORD.
