Deuteronomy 20:1 When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, andseest horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou, be not afraid ofthem: for the LORD thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of theland of Egypt. 2 And it shall be, when ye are come nigh unto the battle, that the priestshall approach and speak unto the people, 3 And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battleagainst your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble,neither be ye terrified because of them; 4 For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you againstyour enemies, to save you. 5 And the officers shall speak unto the people, saying, What man is therethat hath built a new house, and hath not dedicated it? let him go and returnto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it. 6 And what man is he that hath planted a vineyard, and hath not yet eatenof it? let him also go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle,and another man eat of it. 7 And what man is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her?let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and anotherman take her. 8 And the officers shall speak further unto the people, and they shall say,What man is there that is fearful and fainthearted? let him go and returnunto his house, lest his brethren's heart faint as well as his heart. 9 And it shall be, when the officers have made an end of speaking unto thepeople that they shall make captains of the armies to lead the people. 10 When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaimpeace unto it. 11 And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee,then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributariesunto thee, and they shall serve thee. 12 And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee,then thou shalt besiege it: 13 And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shaltsmite every male thereof with the edge of the sword: 14 But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is inthe city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; andthou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath giventhee. 15 Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee,which are not of the cities of these nations. 16 But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give theefor an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth: 17 But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites,the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as theLORD thy God hath commanded thee: 18 That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which theyhave done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the LORD your God. 19 When thou shalt besiege a city a long time, in making war against itto take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an ax againstthem: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not cut them down (forthe tree of the field is man's life) to employ them in the siege: 20 Only the trees which thou knowest that they be not trees for meat, thoushalt destroy and cut them down; and thou shalt build bulwarks against thecity that maketh war with thee, until it be subdued.
Deuteronomy 24:5 When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out towar, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be freeat home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.

Matthew 5:33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of oldtime, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thineoaths: 34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God'sthrone: 35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; forit is the city of the great King. 36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make onehair white or black. 37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever ismore than these cometh of evil. 38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a toothfor a tooth: 39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smitethee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, lethim have thy cloak also. 41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. 42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of theeturn not thou away. 43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour,and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, dogood to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you,and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for hemaketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain onthe just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not eventhe publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? donot even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one,and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
