Deuteronomy 8:10 When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt blessthe LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee. 11 Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: 12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; 13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy goldis multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; 14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, whichbrought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; 15 Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein werefiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; whobrought thee forth water out of the rock of flint; 16 Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee goodat thy latter end; 17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hathgotten me this wealth. 18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth theepower to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware untothy fathers, as it is this day. 19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walkafter other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against youthis day that ye shall surely perish. 20 As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall yeperish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD yourGod.
Deuteronomy 18:14 For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkenedunto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thyGod hath not suffered thee so to do. 15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst ofthee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; 16 According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb inthe day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of theLORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. 17 And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they havespoken. 18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all thatI shall command him. 19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my wordswhich he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. 20 But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, whichI have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of othergods, even that prophet shall die. 21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which theLORD hath not spoken? 22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follownot, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraidof him.

And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vesselsof gold, and vessels of brass: 11 Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver andgold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued; 12 Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
Job 1:8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job,that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man,one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? 9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? 10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and aboutall that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he willcurse thee to thy face. 12 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power;only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from thepresence of the LORD. 13 And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinkingwine in their eldest brother's house: 14 And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them: 15 And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slainthe servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone totell thee. 16 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fireof God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. 17 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeansmade out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escapedalone to tell thee. 18 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sonsand thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother'shouse: 19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote thefour corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they aredead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. 20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell downupon the ground, and worshipped, 21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I returnthither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the nameof the LORD. 22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.
Job 21:7 Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power? 8 Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspringbefore their eyes. 9 Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them. 10 Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and castethnot her calf. 11 They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance. 12 They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ. 13 They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave. 14 Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledgeof thy ways. 15 What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit shouldwe have, if we pray unto him?
Job 31:24 If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thouart my confidence; 25 If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because mine hand hadgotten much; 26 If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness; 27 And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand: 28 This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I shouldhave denied the God that is above.

Ecclesiastes 2:3 I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquaintingmine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see whatwas that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heavenall the days of their life. 4 I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards: 5 I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kindof fruits: 6 I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forthtrees: 7 I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; alsoI had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were inJerusalem before me: 8 I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kingsand of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delightsof the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts. 9 So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem:also my wisdom remained with me. 10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld notmy heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and thiswas my portion of all my labour. 11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on thelabour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexationof spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 5:10 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver;nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. 11 When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what goodis there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with theireyes? 12 The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much:but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep. 13 There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, richeskept for the owners thereof to their hurt. 14 But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, andthere is nothing in his hand. 15 As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go ashe came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away inhis hand. 16 And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so shallhe go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind? 17 All his days also he eateth in darkness, and he hath much sorrow andwrath with his sickness. 18 Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat andto drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under thesun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion. 19 Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath givenhim power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in hislabour; this is the gift of God. 20 For he shall not much remember the days of his life; because God answerethhim in the joy of his heart.
Ecclesiastes 6:1 There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and itis common among men: 2 A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wantethnothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not powerto eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evildisease. 3 If a man beget an hundred children, and live many years, so that the daysof his years be many, and his soul be not filled with good, and also thathe have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he. 4 For he cometh in with vanity, and departeth in darkness, and his nameshall be covered with darkness. 5 Moreover he hath not seen the sun, nor known any thing: this hath morerest than the other. 6 Yea, though he live a thousand years twice told, yet hath he seen no good:do not all go to one place?

Amos 6:3 Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violenceto come near; 4 That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of thestall; 5 That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instrumentsof musick, like David; 6 That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments:but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph. 7 Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, andthe banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed. 8 The Lord GOD hath sworn by himself, saith the LORD the God of hosts, Iabhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliverup the city with all that is therein.
Matthew 6:18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Fatherwhich is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall rewardthee openly. 19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust dothcorrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth norrust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Matthew 13:1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the seaside. 2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he wentinto a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. 3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sowerwent forth to sow; 4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls cameand devoured them up: 5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwiththey sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: 6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: 8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. 9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Matthew 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, whatgood thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good butone, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shaltnot commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbouras thyself. 20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youthup: what lack I yet? 21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come andfollow me. 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: forhe had great possessions. 23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a richman shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through theeye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Whothen can be saved? 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible;but with God all things are possible.
Mark 4:24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measureye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall morebe given. 25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from himshall be taken even that which he hath.
Mark 10:17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I mayinherit eternal life? 18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none goodbut one, that is, God. 19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Donot steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father andmother. 20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observedfrom my youth. 21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thoulackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, andthou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and followme. 22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had greatpossessions. 23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardlyshall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! 24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in richesto enter into the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than fora rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 26 And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Whothen can be saved? 27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but notwith God: for with God all things are possible.

Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, andtaketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and besaved. 13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word withjoy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptationfall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard,go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
Luke 12:13 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me. 14 And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you? 15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man'slife consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. 16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain richman brought forth plentifully: 17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I haveno room where to bestow my fruits? 18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater;and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for manyyears; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be requiredof thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich towardGod.
Luke 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasureto give you the kingdom. 33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax notold, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. 34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Luke 12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, ofhim shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of himthey will ask the more.
Luke 16:1 And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain richman, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he hadwasted his goods. 2 And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee?give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward. 3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord takethaway from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed. 4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. 5 So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto thefirst, How much owest thou unto my lord? 6 And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thybill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. 7 Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundredmeasures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. 8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely:for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the childrenof light. 9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness;that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. 10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much:and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. 11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, whowill commit to your trust the true riches? 12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, whoshall give you that which is your own? 13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, andlove the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.Ye cannot serve God and mammon. 14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: andthey derided him. 15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men;but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among menis abomination in the sight of God.
Luke 18:18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shallI do to inherit eternal life? 19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, saveone, that is, God. 20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Donot steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. 21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. 22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thouone thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thoushalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. 23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. 24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shallthey that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! 25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for arich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 26 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved? 27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible withGod.

Acts 2:43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs weredone by the apostles. 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, asevery man had need. 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breakingbread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singlenessof heart,
Acts 4:34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as werepossessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the thingsthat were sold, 35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made untoevery man according as he had need. 36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, beinginterpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, 37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles'feet.

1 Corinthians 10:24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.
1 Corinthians 16:1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I havegiven order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. 2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store,as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
2 Corinthians 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you alsothat ye receive not the grace of God in vain. 2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day ofsalvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) 3 Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed: 4 But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in muchpatience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, 5 In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, infastings; 6 By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the HolyGhost, by love unfeigned, 7 By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousnesson the right hand and on the left, 8 By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true; 9 As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed; 10 As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; ashaving nothing, and yet possessing all things.
2 Corinthians 8:1 Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of Godbestowed on the churches of Macedonia; 2 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy andtheir deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. 3 For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they werewilling of themselves; 4 Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and takeupon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. 5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves tothe Lord, and unto us by the will of God. 6 Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would alsofinish in you the same grace also. 7 Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in thisgrace also. 8 I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love. 9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might berich.
Philippians 3:7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss forChrist. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of theknowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss ofall things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carrynothing out. 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and intomany foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some covetedafter, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through withmany sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thouart also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
1 Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be nothighminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who givethus richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the timeto come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
James 1:1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelvetribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. 2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. 5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all menliberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is likea wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. 9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: 10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grasshe shall pass away. 11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereththe grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashionof it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways. 12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, heshall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them thatlove him. 13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannotbe tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
James 2:1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, theLord of glory, with respect of persons. 2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodlyapparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; 3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say untohim, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there,or sit here under my footstool: 4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? 5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this worldrich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them thatlove him? 6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw youbefore the judgment seats? 7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? 8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt lovethy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: 9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced ofthe law as transgressors. 10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point,he is guilty of all. 11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Nowif thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressorof the law. 12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. 13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy;and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consumeit upon your lusts. 4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of theworld is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the worldis the enemy of God. 5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwellethin us lusteth to envy? 6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will fleefrom you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, yesinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. 11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of hisbrother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeththe law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, buta judge. 12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thouthat judgest another? 13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life?It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanishethaway. 15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this,or that. 16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
James 5:1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shallcome upon you. 2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. 3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witnessagainst you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasuretogether for the last days. 4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, whichis of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reapedare entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. 5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourishedyour hearts, as in a day of slaughter. 6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you. 7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, thehusbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patiencefor it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
Revelation 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked
