Job 5:7 Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward. 8 I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause: 9 Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number: 10 Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields: 11 To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exaltedto safety. 12 He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannotperform their enterprise. 13 He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the frowardis carried headlong. 14 They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as inthe night.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thineown understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Proverbs 28:26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walkethwisely, he shall be delivered.
Ecclesiastes 10:13 The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness:and the end of his talk is mischievous madness. 14 A fool also is full of words: a man cannot tell what shall be; and whatshall be after him, who can tell him? 15 The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knowethnot how to go to the city. 16 Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat inthe morning! 17 Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thyprinces eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness! 18 By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of thehands the house droppeth through.
Isaiah 5:21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent intheir own sight!
Isaiah 47:10 For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, Noneseeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thouhast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.
Jeremiah 4:22 For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they aresottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to doevil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
Luke 16:1 And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain richman, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he hadwasted his goods. 2 And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee?give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward. 3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord takethaway from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed. 4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship,they may receive me into their houses. 5 So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto thefirst, How much owest thou unto my lord? 6 And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thybill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. 7 Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundredmeasures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. 8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely:for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the childrenof light. 9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness;that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. 10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much:and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. 11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, whowill commit to your trust the true riches? 12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, whoshall give you that which is your own? 13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, andlove the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.Ye cannot serve God and mammon. 14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: andthey derided him. 15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men;but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among menis abomination in the sight of God.
John 9:39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that theywhich see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodlinessand unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hathshewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearlyseen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal powerand Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neitherwere thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolishheart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made liketo corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of theirown hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served thecreature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even theirwomen did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burnedin their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly,and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gavethem over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness,maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors ofevil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable,unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things areworthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that dothem.
Romans 12:16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things,but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perishfoolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bringto nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of thisworld? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God,it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and untothe Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the powerof God, and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness ofGod is stronger than men. 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after theflesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise;and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the thingswhich are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath Godchosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
1 Corinthians 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemethto be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written,He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. 20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. 21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
2 Corinthians 1:12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience,that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but bythe grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantlyto you-ward. 13 For we write none other things unto you, than what ye read or acknowledge;and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end;
Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfilthe lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against theflesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot dothe things that ye would.
1 Timothy 6:20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoidingprofane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: 21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be withthee. Amen.
James 3:13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let himshew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. 14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, andlie not against the truth. 15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. 16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
