Exodous 21:11 And if he do not these three unto her, then shall she go outfree without money.
Leviticus 21:7 They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neithershall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto hisGod.
Leviticus 21:12 Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane thesanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is uponhim: I am the LORD. 13 And he shall take a wife in her virginity. 14 A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall henot take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife. 15 Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: for I the LORD dosanctify him.
Numbers 30:1 And Moses spake unto the heads of the tribes concerning thechildren of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded. 2 If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul witha bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedethout of his mouth. 3 If a woman also vow a vow unto the LORD, and bind herself by a bond, beingin her father's house in her youth; 4 And her father hear her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound hersoul, and her father shall hold his peace at her; then all her vows shallstand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand. 5 But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth; not any ofher vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand:and the LORD shall forgive her, because her father disallowed her. 6 And if she had at all an husband, when she vowed, or uttered ought outof her lips, wherewith she bound her soul; 7 And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her in the day that heheard it: then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she bound hersoul shall stand. 8 But if her husband disallowed her on the day that he heard it; then heshall make her vow which she vowed, and that which she uttered with herlips, wherewith she bound her soul, of none effect: and the LORD shall forgiveher. 9 But every vow of a widow, and of her that is divorced, wherewith theyhave bound their souls, shall stand against her. 10 And if she vowed in her husband's house, or bound her soul by a bondwith an oath; 11 And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed hernot: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she bound hersoul shall stand. 12 But if her husband hath utterly made them void on the day he heard them;then whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerningthe bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void;and the LORD shall forgive her. 13 Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband mayestablish it, or her husband may make it void. 14 But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day;then he establisheth all her vows, or all her bonds, which are upon her:he confirmeth them, because he held his peace at her in the day that heheard them. 15 But if he shall any ways make them void after that he hath heard them;then he shall bear her iniquity. 16 These are the statutes, which the LORD commanded Moses, between a manand his wife, between the father and his daughter, being yet in her youthin her father's house.
Numbers 31:15 And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive? 16 Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam,to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there wasa plague among the congregation of the LORD. 17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every womanthat hath known man by lying with him. 18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
Deuteronomy 21:10 When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, andthe LORD thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast takenthem captive, 11 And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire untoher, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife; 12 Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house, and she shall shave herhead, and pare her nails; 13 And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shallremain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month:and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shallbe thy wife. 14 And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt lether go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thoushalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.
Deuteronomy 25:11 When men strive together one with another, and the wifeof the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of himthat smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets: 12 Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.
Judges 15:15 And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith. 16 And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with thejaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men. 17 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he castaway the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramathlehi.
Judges 16:4 And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in thevalley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah. 5 And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her,Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what meanswe may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and wewill give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver. 6 And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strengthlieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee. 7 And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs thatwere never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man. 8 Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withswhich had not been dried, and she bound him with them. 9 Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. Andshe said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake thewiths, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strengthwas not known. 10 And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told melies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound. 11 And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that neverwere occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man. 12 Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said untohim, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in waitabiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread. 13 And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and toldme lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her,If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web. 14 And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistinesbe upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away withthe pin of the beam, and with the web. 15 And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heartis not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not toldme wherein thy great strength lieth. 16 And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urgedhim, so that his soul was vexed unto death; 17 That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not comea razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother'swomb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall becomeweak, and be like any other man. 18 And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent andcalled for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, forhe hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines cameup unto her, and brought money in their hand. 19 And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, andshe caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began toafflict him, and his strength went from him. 20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke outof his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shakemyself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him. 21 But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him downto Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prisonhouse.
1 Kings 11:1 But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with thedaughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites: 2 Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel,Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surelythey will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto thesein love. 3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines:and his wives turned away his heart. 4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned awayhis heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORDhis God, as was the heart of David his father. 5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and afterMilcom the abomination of the Ammonites. 6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully afterthe LORD, as did David his father.
1 Kings 16:29 And in the thirty and eighth year of Asa king of Judah beganAhab the son of Omri to reign over Israel: and Ahab the son of Omri reignedover Israel in Samaria twenty and two years. 30 And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD above allthat were before him. 31 And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walkin the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel thedaughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, andworshipped him. 32 And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he hadbuilt in Samaria. 33 And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israelto anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.
1 Chronicles 15:29 And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of theLORD came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul lookingout at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised himin her heart.
2 Chronicles 21:4 Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father,he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren with the sword, and diversalso of the princes of Israel. 5 Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reignedeight years in Jerusalem. 6 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the houseof Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that whichwas evil in the eyes of the LORD.
2 Chronicles 22:1 And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngestson king in his stead: for the band of men that came with the Arabians tothe camp had slain all the eldest. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king ofJudah reigned. 2 Forty and two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign, and he reignedone year in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Athaliah the daughterof Omri. 3 He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab: for his mother was hiscounsellor to do wickedly. 4 Wherefore he did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of Ahab:for they were his counsellors after the death of his father to his destruction.
Ezra 9:1 Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying,The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separatedthemselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, theAmmonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. 2 For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons:so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands:yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass. 3 And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and pluckedoff the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied. 4 Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of theGod of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been carriedaway; and I sat astonied until the evening sacrifice. 5 And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and havingrent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my handsunto the LORD my God, 6 And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee,my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespassis grown up unto the heavens. 7 Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto thisday; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been deliveredinto the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, andto a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day. 8 And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God,to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in ourbondage. 9 For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, togive us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolationsthereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem. 10 And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsakenthy commandments, 11 Which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness ofthe people of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it fromone end to another with their uncleanness. 12 Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take theirdaughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever:that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for aninheritance to your children for ever. 13 And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our greattrespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquitiesdeserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this; 14 Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with thepeople of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thouhadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping? 15 O LORD God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped,as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for wecannot stand before thee because of this.
Ezra 10:1 Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping andcasting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him outof Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for thepeople wept very sore. 2 And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered andsaid unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strangewives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerningthis thing. 3 Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all thewives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be doneaccording to the law. 4 Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee:be of good courage, and do it. 5 Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel,to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware. 6 Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamberof Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat nobread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of themthat had been carried away. 7 And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all thechildren of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together untoJerusalem; 8 And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to thecounsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carriedaway. 9 Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together untoJerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth dayof the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God,trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain. 10 And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel. 11 Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, anddo his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, andfrom the strange wives. 12 Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thouhast said, so must we do. 13 But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are notable to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for weare many that have transgressed in this thing. 14 Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them whichhave taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and withthem the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fiercewrath of our God for this matter be turned from us. 15 Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employedabout this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them. 16 And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certainchief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of themby their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenthmonth to examine the matter. 17 And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives bythe first day of the first month.
Ester 1:10 On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry withwine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, the seven chamberlains that served in the presence of Ahasuerusthe king, 11 To bring Vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal, to shewthe people and the princes her beauty: for she was fair to look on. 12 But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king's commandment by hischamberlains: therefore was the king very wroth, and his anger burned inhim. 13 Then the king said to the wise men, which knew the times, (for so wasthe king's manner toward all that knew law and judgment: 14 And the next unto him was Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres,Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, which saw theking's face, and which sat the first in the kingdom;) 15 What shall we do unto the queen Vashti according to law, because shehath not performed the commandment of the king Ahasuerus by the chamberlains? 16 And Memucan answered before the king and the princes, Vashti the queenhath not done wrong to the king only, but also to all the princes, and toall the people that are in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus. 17 For this deed of the queen shall come abroad unto all women, so thatthey shall despise their husbands in their eyes, when it shall be reported,The king Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him,but she came not. 18 Likewise shall the ladies of Persia and Media say this day unto all theking's princes, which have heard of the deed of the queen. Thus shall therearise too much contempt and wrath. 19 If it please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, andlet it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that itbe not altered, That Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus; and letthe king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she. 20 And when the king's decree which he shall make shall be published throughoutall his empire, (for it is great,) all the wives shall give to their husbandshonour, both to great and small. 21 And the saying pleased the king and the princes; and the king did accordingto the word of Memucan: 22 For he sent letters into all the king's provinces, into every provinceaccording to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language, that every man should bear rule in his own house, and that it should bepublished according to the language of every people.
Job 19:17 My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children'ssake of mine own body.
Proverbs 5:18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife ofthy youth. 19 Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfythee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
Proverbs 19:13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentionsof a wife are a continual dropping. 14 House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife isfrom the LORD.
Proverbs 30:21 For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four whichit cannot bear: 22 For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat; 23 For an odious woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heirto her mistress.
Proverbs 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far aboverubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall haveno need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. 14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar. 15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. 16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands sheplanteth a vineyard. 17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. 18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not outby night. 19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. 20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth herhands to the needy. 21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her householdare clothed with scarlet. 22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. 23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders ofthe land. 24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto themerchant. 25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time tocome. 26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. 27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the breadof idleness. 28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and hepraiseth her. 29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth theLORD, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise herin the gates.
Ecclesiastes 9:9 Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the daysof the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all thedays of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labourwhich thou takest under the sun.
Song Of Solomon 2:2 As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.
1 Corinthians 7:4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband:and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. 5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, thatye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, thatSatan tempt you not for your incontinency.
1 Corinthians 7:10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord,Let not the wife depart from her husband: 11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to herhusband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
1 Corinthians 7:13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not,and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
1 Corinthians 7:16 For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt savethy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?
1 Corinthians 7:32 But I would have you without carefulness. He that isunmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may pleasethe Lord: 33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, howhe may please his wife. 34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried womancareth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body andin spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, howshe may please her husband.
1 Corinthians 7:37 Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreedin his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well. 38 So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that givethher not in marriage doeth better. 39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if herhusband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; onlyin the Lord. 40 But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think alsothat I have the Spirit of God.
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every manis Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christis God. 4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonourethhis head. 5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonourethher head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. 6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be ashame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. 7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the imageand glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. 8 For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man. 9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. 10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of theangels. 11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the womanwithout the man, in the Lord. 12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman;but all things of God. 13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? 14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair,it is a shame unto him? 15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair isgiven her for a covering. 16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neitherthe churches of God.
1 Corinthians 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for itis not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be underobedience as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home:for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ haveput on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, thereis neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 5:21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. 22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head ofthe church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be totheir own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, andgave himself for it;
Ephesians 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. Hethat loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherishethit, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall bejoined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife evenas himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
Colossians 3:18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it isfit in the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. 20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasingunto the Lord. 21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. 22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; notwith eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God; 23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
1 Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holyhands, without wrath and doubting. 9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, withshamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls,or costly array; 10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. 11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man,but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continuein faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
1 Timothy 3:11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
Titus 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love theirhusbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
1 Peter 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that,if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversationof the wives; 2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. 3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of Godof great price. 5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trustedin God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: 6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are,as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
1 Peter 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: 9 Not rendering evil for evil, or raili
